Introduction
Jukwa Students and Associates is a group that brings together the young literates who hail from and/or live in Jukwa. With the slogan "Together We Build", the group has a sole aim of harnessing the knowledge and the enthusiasm of the young people and to gear them towards the development of the town in particular and the district in general. The association seeks to find workable solutions to the various challenges facing our land. At our meeting in Jukwa on January 2, 2011, it was realized that the current standard of education in Jukwa is low, and as our objective directs, the association is organizing a JHS Quiz competition in Jukwa in the month of February as our immediate step to help salvage the situation.
Objectives
The Association is embarking on this competition to offer motivation for the younger people in Jukwa to take education seriously. We believe that by raising this platform, and with the plan to repeat every year, pupils will be encouraged to study hard to win the prizes available as well as gain the prestige that accompanies such occasions.
We also hope to rekindle a healthy academic competition among the schools in Jukwa. It is an undeniable fact that competition brings out the best in everyone. Unfortunately, there seems to be no means by which the schools in our area are able to compete among themselves on the academic front. By this programme, we hope to offer that necessary grounds for our younger siblings to achieve their best.
Again, by this means we hope to make both teachers and pupils in Jukwa realize that the community is interested in what they do. There is an unfortunate impression held that “nobody cares” about what happens to the education of most of our children in Jukwa. Without trying to argue the issue, we want to use this measure to inform all and sundry about the interest of the community in the education of its younger ones.
The Competition
The Jukwa Schools Quiz competition is expected to involve all the nine (9) Junior High Schools in Jukwa namely; D/C JHS, Catholic JHS, Methodist JHS, Anglican JHS, Model JHS, Pamo JHS, Jabez JHS, Shalom JHS and Ebenezer JHS. These nine schools will be put into three groups, after a ballot, for three preliminary contests. Each of these three contests shall be organized on a different day and in order not to disrupt school sessions, the competition shall begin at 1:00pm. Each of these preliminary contests shall take place at Jukwa Motel. After the balloting the schedule for the prelims shall be
Group A- Friday, 11th February, 2011
Group B- Friday, 18th February, 2011
Group C- Friday, 25th February, 2011
The winners of these preliminary contests shall then qualify for the finals of the competition, which shall be held at the Jukwa Acheampong Market on 4th March 2011.
Each school will be expected present three (3) pupils for the completion, making provision for both sexes on the team. No school shall be allowed to present an only-male or an only-female team. This is to ensure gender sensitivity in the representation.
Awards
In order to elicit positive response from both teachers and pupils for this competition, we are making the award package benefit both the school and the pupils. Details are as follows;
• Certificates for all participating pupils
• Books and other educational materials for all participating pupils
• One computer and a printer for overall best school

Unity Drum
Cape Coast
Sankofa
